1,413,000,000 Baht! This was the amount that Artiwara Kongmalai (also known as Pî Tôon) collected through donations to help 11 hospitals across Thailand in 2017. He was already well known as the vocalist for the rock band “Bodyslam”, and also for having run 400 kilometer to raise donations for a hospital in Prachuap Province. After this achievement, his goal became much greater: Run across Thailand from the extreme south to the extreme north in 55 days. Through this brave and challenging act, he was able to raise 1,413,000,000 Baht, equivalent today to more than 45 million dollars. During the entire period of preparation and execution, Thai people's admiration and gratitude towards this man was evident, creating songs in his honor and being called by many as "hero". Is evangelization urgent? Should we try to set specific goals to reach the areas we live in? We feel God calling us to set a goal to reach each home of the 40,000 people in Phrom Khiri with the Gospel by the end of 2025.
God doesn't let us get too settled in ministry. Angel and I adjusted from doing ministry as singles to doing ministry as a married couple and there have been many adjustments at in our ministry together as we seek to find out how God would have us minister most effectively in each particular season.
This past weekend my wife and I had the opportunity to go camping with 2 Thai families on-top of a mountain only 3 km from our house. This was only our second time coming up the mountain as it is a very steep hill, mainly accessible by 4x4, which is not the vehicle we have.
Aunty Jariam loves to drive her motorbike, taking people to doctors’ appointments and caring for her neighbours’ needs. As a result of her love and care, she met Aunty Ieyad, who moved into her neighbourhood from Bangkok. This move was due to Covid and the loss of her son’s income from fighting in Muay Thai competitions, which was his livelihood; their move thus came with financial difficulties, and Aunty Jariam sought to help.
After being in Australia for quite a while, I've found that the Australia accent and slang have rubbed off on me more than usual. Now that we are back in Thailand, some of my co-workers have been working hard to decipher my Australian vocab at times. There are some Australian-isms that are very helpful in communicating Gospel truths, though - including a number of the songs by Australian singer / songwriter Colin Buchanan. One of his songs goes like this:
"Be like a fisherman.
Forgiveness is the bait.
Burly up with godly love and be prepared to wait.
Some folk aren't drawn to Jesus, so just leave that bit to him,
But when they bite - whoa! - reel them in."

As we begin to think and plan ahead for our upcoming home assignment many of our Thai friends and acquaintances in our village have been asking if we will be coming back after our time in Australia. This is a difficult question to answer as our financial support is low and at this stage, it does not look likely that we will be able to raise the required support, especially in light of the economic hardships due to COVID.
As I have answered this question about our possible return I have shared with each person who has asked that ‘ I am hoping to return but I am not sure as our financial support for us to live and work in Thailand is low and if we do not get the required funding we will not be able to return.’ I have been greatly encouraged to have a number of my Thai friends who are not yet believers say to me that I should ask God. They have stated this very matter of factly as if they know He can provide, even though they are still discovering who He is.
