Adventure Camp Leader / Counsellor

Reach young Thai people for Christ by taking part in outdoor adventure camps in South Thailand.

Kayak at South Thailand Adventure Camp

Period of service: 1 week
(volunteers are welcome to stay on after camp to engage in other ministry opportunities if they so desire)
Positions available: Up to 5 per camp

 

Adventure Camps are run by Thai Christians and missionaries based in Nakhon Si Thammarat, South Thailand. The camps are usually held in Krabi province on the west coast of Thailand. The adventure activities create an open environment where the Gospel can be shared naturally. Another goal of this ministry is to build confidence in Thai Christian youth as well as develop a new generation of Thai Christian leaders.

Activities on Camp

  • enjoying the natural beauty of Southern Thailand 
  • rock climbing
  • abseiling (rappelling)
  • caving
  • kayaking
  • swimming
  • beach games
  • camping in tents
  • team-building activities
  • evening Bible discussions

 

Each group outing normally consists of 5-8 expat leaders, 5-8 Thai Christian leaders and up to 50 Thai youth.

Major Responsibilities

  • Volunteers are an integral part of this ministry. 
  • Get alongside young people of another culture and
  • Share your life and love for the Lord 
  • Serve the campers and other leaders on camp by assisting with the logistics of running camp.

  • adventurous nature
  • willingness to work hard under in service of others;
  • a robust Christian lifestyle;
  • flexibility
  • calm nature to "go with the flow" when everyone around is talking in a different language!

Volunteers should arrive in Nakhon Si Thammarat, South Thailand at least three days before camp for orientation and camp preparation and be prepared to assist with the clean-up on the two days after camp.

 

Costs

  • Camp: 1,200 baht per foreign volunteer
  • Accomodation before and after camp at the Nakhon Si Thammarat ministry centre: 150 baht/person/night (includes airconditioning, wifi internet and use of kitchenette and washing machine)
  • Suggested budget for food during days before and after camp: 150-200 baht/person/day
